Dear ,
Many of our children have started school already knowing the names of the letters
of the alphabet.
Recent research however has highlighted the need to learn the common sounds of
letters BEFORE we teach the letter names.
I therefore seek your cooperation in asking that, if you wish to teach the alphabet,
you only teach letter sounds and leave the teaching of letter names to our teachers
at a later time. There is of course no obligation for parents to teach anything at all,
we will do that when your child joins the school.
If we can assist you in any other way please feel free to contact us,
Kind regards,
John Smith (Principal)
